For as long as I can remember, I’ve asked the question, “who am I?” followed by “why am I here?”. I haven’t really experienced satisfying answers. Instead, when I utter those words among most people the response has been “you have too much time on your hands”. Once I discovered philosophers like Neitchze, Descartes, Keirkegard, Plato, Socrates, Ayn Rand, I realized I wasn’t the only one on earth asking these questions.

What I am finding now is that the tolerance for cognitive dissonance that philosophy requires is sorely missing on earth. Humanity has been in a rinse and repeat cycle for several hundreds of years and seems to be missing the boat in terms of asking the big questions of themselves and their lives. Even though this can’t be summed up in an easy cause and effect equation like most of us would like to believe, there is an element that seems consistent among past peoples and our evolution of present humanity.

Our consistent inability to hold opposition within our beings as a cornerstone of discovery rather than a platform for violence, war and domination is that element. It’s a pretty easy course correction however not many are willing to take it because it requires a great deal of internal fortitude and willingness to consistently and chronically be wrong at least from the limited material perspective of 3D reality.

I’m not one of those spiritualists claiming we all need to ascend our humanity and be in some other dimension. It’s about holding dissonance, using it, integrating it so that other dimensions/perspectives of experience are possible. It’s the possibility that moves us beyond war and into collaboration. It’s the ability to abandon beliefs, religions, perspectives, understandings if even for a moment, to experience something that you have never experienced before.

Many have taught and talked about this singularity of being, many have come and gone knowing that unity only arises after being tolerant of opposing forces in our internal beings. And ironically, we can’t even move our physical beings without opposition. We have muscles that contract while others relax to stimulate ambulation. There is no getting around dissonance. If you live in a body and walk the earth, it is a requirement to live fully. So, why not use it for the benefit of yourself and others?
